Byeongseok received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Inha University, South Korea (2026). During his Ph.D., he conducted his research under the supervision of Prof. Sang Eun Shim, focusing on the structural design of aerogel materials, including silica, polymer, metal oxide, and hybrid systems, for applications spanning mechanical reinforcement, adsorption, and catalysis. He was also selected as an Outstanding Dispatched Researcher under the Global Talent Growth Program to work as a visiting scholar under the supervision of Prof. Taejin Kim at Stony Brook University for 10 months in 2023. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at The University of Texas at Austin, co-advised by Prof. Zachariah Page and Prof. Jonathan Sessler. His research focuses on developing 3D-printed porous sorbents for rare earth element and critical mineral recovery, combining aerogel-based porous materials design with photopolymerization.
