Luis received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2025. While at UMass, he worked in the laboratory of Professor Todd Emrick, where he investigated fluorogenic polymer zwitterions and their interactions with perfluoroalkyl substances. He also conducted research with Professor Alan Lesser on next-generation sustainable polyolefin packaging, helping develop melt-mastication processing strategies to enhance crystallinity, mechanical properties, and gas-barrier performance. Luis is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Zak Page and Dr. Gabriel Sanoja at The University of Texas at Austin.
